Rogers Park Art Club
This year art club will be broken own into two 12 week sessions. The first session with be grades K - 3 and the second session will be grades 4 - 6. The art club will meet every Monday afterschool (unless there is no school that day) from 3:30 - 4:30. There will be a sign up sheet in the art room the first two weeks of school. There are only 20 spots open for each session, so sign up early!

Session 1 - Kindergarten through 3rd Grade - September 14th - November 30th
Session 2 - 4th Grade through 6th Grade - January 25th - April 26th
First Semester K - 3 Projects
Wire Hanging - Using wire, wood and beads the students will create a beautiful peice of artwork for hanging.
Coil Bowl with Lid - Students will create a container using clay. Students will learn about handbuiding using a coil technique.
Fabric Art - Students will be creating a halloween inspired t-shirt. The students will learn a tie-dye technique as well as working with fabric markers.
Paper Marbling - With this project, not only will the students end up with beautiful marbled paper, but they will also get to play around with copious amounts of shaving cream!!! The final product will be a sample of traditional marbled papers.
Rock Painting - The students will create a fun rock sculpture that can be displayed inside or out! the students will have fun exploring color and pattern through painting rocks and then putting them together to form a fun sculpture.
Pablo Picasso Drawing - The students will create a Pablo Picasso inspired collage. they will learn about the artist and cubism as they explore the art of face drawing.
Seasonal Ornament - Students will create a seasonal ornament using clay. They will learn about hand building, stamping, and glazing throughout this project. The ornament will be wired for hanging.
Second Semester 4 - 6 Projects
Platter Clay Work - Students will create a slab platter using a coil and ball technique. They will complete the clay work using a glaze finish.
Foil Weaving - Students will be creating a fantastic foil weaving using techniques they have already learned. However, adding foils and collage elements make this weaving unique and fun to create!
Jewelry Making - Using beads, fibers, plaster, and friendly plastic the student will design and create their own unique pin. The theme is "whispers of the imagination".
Copper Tooling - using copper embossing techniques the students will design and create a keepsake box. This project combines collage, copper, painting and drawing.
Drawing - The students will learn how to combine collage and drawing techniques in this unique figure drawing excercize. they will also be introduced to conte crayon drawing techniques.
Paper Mache Fish sticks - Students will create a fun and funky fish on a stick using a paper mache technique. The artwork will be completed using paint and a gloss finish.
